Internal Links
Internal links are one of the easiest things that we can do to increase your website’s search rankings. However, just because it is easy does not mean that it is not important, and we dedicate our time to ensure that the pages on your website are properly interconnected.
Internal links make your website easier to navigate, especially if it is large. These are the links that direct people to different pages on your site. You can also have links within your website’s text that direct people to other parts of the site. You will see many examples of internal links here on our own website.
For example, internal links are closely related to external links.
Why Are Internal Links Important?
Internal links are important because they make your website easier to navigate, not only for users, but for spiders and bots too.
Part of increasing your search rankings means ensuring that your page is “crawled” regularly by spiders. Internal links make it easier for these spiders to find all of the pages on your website. This means when someone searches for a keyword listed on one of your pages, they are more likely to find your whole website.
Examples of Internal Links
When it comes to internal links, there are many ways that we here at U4D will implement them on your website. First, we will make sure that all of your pages are properly linked to a homepage or menu bar, such as the one you see on our website. This ensures that your customers will not end up on a dead end page (one that does not link back to anything). This is the mark of an unprofessional website.
Second, we will insert links into the website text when appropriate. This helps when you have multiple related pages.
Third, internal links are a great resource when it comes to blogs. If you have a blog on your website, internal links are a great tool for your customers. For example, you upload a post about a certain topic, and it is related to a topic that you posted a few weeks ago. In the more recent post, you can include an internal link to the older, related post. This is also a great tool if you choose to break up some longer posts into multiple parts.
At U4D, we know how to optimize your website, and internal links are only one of the tools in our arsenal.
